PUBLIC NOTICE: Wage Board Meeting to be held July 16, 2009

Albany, NY (June 29, 2009) - PURSUANT to the Open Meetings Law, the New York State Department of Labor hereby gives notice of the following:

The Wage Board appointed by State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith will meet on Thursday, July 16, 2009, commencing at 9:00 a.m. The meeting will be held at two locations simultaneously, connected by videoconference: the New York State Department of Labor, Building 12, Room 572A, State Office Campus, Albany, NY 12240 and the New York State Department of Labor offices, 75 Varick Street, 7th floor, New York, NY 10013, in the Commissioner’s Conference Room.

The purpose of the meeting is for the Board to develop recommendations for changes in the regulations governing wages and tips paid to workers in the restaurant and hotel industries. The Board is developing its recommendations in consideration of research reports on the industries as well as oral and written public testimony received by the Board. The Board’s recommendations will ultimately be put in a report to the Commissioner of Labor. The existing regulations are contained in the Minimum Wage Orders for the Restaurant and Hotel Industries, Parts 137 and 138 of Title 12 of the Official Compilation of Codes, Rules and Regulations of New York State.

The meeting is open to members of the public; however, no public testimony will be taken at the meeting. The deadline for submitting testimony has passed.
