GLOBALFOUNDRIES and the New York State Department of Labor announce the "Fab 8 Career Expo" to be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn - Wolf Road in Albany, NY.
The Fab 8 Career Expo is designed to provide specific information on: current openings; upcoming career opportunities; information on the necessary skills, education, and qualifications required for a career in semiconductor manufacturing with GLOBALFOUNDRIES; information about the hiring process; and instructions on how to apply for positions at the company's new semiconductor manufacturing facility currently under construction at the Luther Forest Technology Campus near Malta, NY.
Representatives from the company, the NYS Department of Labor, the Center for Economic Growth, regional community colleges, and Local Workforce Investment Boards will also be on hand to provide information about training and education opportunities in the region if you are considering a career in semiconductor manufacturing.
Construction of the new fab, called "Fab 8," began in July 2009 and is on track to begin installing the first manufacturing tools in 2011 and to begin initial manufacturing in 2012. The Fab 8 project is currently the largest commercial economic development project in the United States and approximately 1,400 new positions are expected to be created once the new facility is in full operation.
