Albany, NY (June 02, 2010) -
Background: On May 19, the New York State Department of Labor fined Albion Color, Inc. of Albion, NY and Printing Methods, Inc. of Rochester, NY a total of $6,000 for paying workers late. On May 26, the Department ordered the companies, which are owned by the same individuals, to pay a total of $309,099.55 in wages due the workers, interest due the workers, and penalties due the state. We have recently learned that the owners are holding an open house today.
Statement from Commissioner Gardner:
"Today the owners of these companies would rather waste even more of the public's time through some "community open house" than get right to the heart of the matter, which is that workers are not getting paid. The Department of Labor is absolutely committed to getting these workers the pay they have earned. I'd also like to remind the owners of these companies that their workers are part of their community, and they rely on their paychecks to buy food, pay mortgages and make car payments. It's time to quit dilly dallying and pay these workers every cent they are owed!!!"###
