Albany, NY (December 12, 2010) -
“Beginning Sunday, December 12th, 130,000 New Yorkers who have been collecting Unemployment Insurance will no longer receive benefits. On that day, they will join over 120,000 of their fellow residents who have completely exhausted all their benefits. Every day the debate rages on in Washington, is a day of lost income for thousands of New Yorkers. Now it hits home at the worst and coldest time of the year. I strongly urge those in Congress who have opposed a benefit extension in the past to help the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers and their families in their time of need. I urge them to give the job seekers that vital safety net and a little more time to find meaningful employment and in turn, we will continue to do our part in helping them find a job.”###
