Albany, NY (July 26, 2010) -

Today state and local officials announced the temporary relocation of the One Stop Career Center due to a late night fire that severely damaged the Department of Labor's regional office and Career Center located at the State Office Building at 207 Genesee Street in Utica.

The new location will be at Conference Room A, on the first floor of the State Office Building.  Computers, career counselors and various other services will be available to assist the unemployed with job hunting services.  For updates on available services, jobseekers are asked to call (315) 793-2218.

Colleen C. Gardner, Commissioner, Department of Labor said - "At a time when jobseekers in the Mohawk Valley desperately need every resource available to them, this fire will not stop us from helping them find their next job.  Thanks to the speedy resources of the Office of General Services and the Office for Technology, our temporary location while looking a bit different, will be open for business tomorrow."

John C. Egan, Commissioner, Office of General Services said - "Office of General Services staff have been working diligently through the night and today  to ensure that the building will be operational and ready for staff and those who need to utilize state services in Utica. We will continue to assess the status of the building and make adjustments as needed so that vital services can continue."

State and local authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
