Albany, NY (October 05, 2012) -
The New York State Department of Labor (DOL) today announced that 50 Cortland and Central New York area companies will be gathering on October 9 with 525 job vacancies in technical and professional positions.
“This is just the latest example of how New York works for job seekers,” said Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. “It shows how New York State is partnering with employers to bring good jobs to the people.”
The career fair will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at OCM BOCES McEvoy Center on Route 13 in Cortland.
Representatives from manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, food service, green and other sectors will be on hand and are ready to hire.
“This type of turnout from local companies offering such a wide-range of jobs is renewed hope for job seekers,” said New York State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera. “New Yorkers are getting back to work thanks in part to the efforts by One Stop locations, their partnering agencies and the programs they offer.”
For companies that require an online application, a bank of computers for applicants will be available at the career fair and staff will assist job seekers through the online application process.
The jobs at the fair can also be accessed through Governor Cuomo’s Jobs Express page, which as of today has nearly 4,000 openings in the Central New York region, at: http://www.labor.ny.gov/jobs.
