Painters and Glaziers Recruit Apprentices

Albany, NY (September 01, 2011) -

The IBPAT Painters and Glaziers Local Union #155 NJATC will conduct a recruitment from September 12, 2011 through September 10, 2012 for three glazier apprentices State Labor Commissioner Colleen C. Gardner announced today.

Applications can be obtained at the Local Union #155 NJATC, 677 Dutchess Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY, on the second and third Mondays of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Applications are also available at 890 3rd Street, Albany, NY, on the first Wednesday of the month, from 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

Applications will be available at the Albany location starting October 5, 2011 and at the Poughkeepsie location, the application will be accepted starting September 12, 2011 and September 19, 2011 and each month thereafter, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

Note: Please note that the openings (3) listed for the glazier apprentices represent the total number for both regions – Capital & Hudson Valley.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a minimum of a 10th grade education.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
