Painters Recruit Apprentices

Wappingers Falls, NY (August 09, 2012) -

The IBPAT Painters and Glaziers Local Union #155 NJATC will conduct a recruitment from September 17, 2012 through September 16, 2013 for three glazier apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today.

Applications can be obtained at the Local Union #155 NJATC, 21 Airport Drive, Wappingers Falls, NY on the second and third Mondays of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Applications are also available at 890 3rd Street, Albany, NY on the first Wednesday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

Please note that the applications will be available at the Albany location starting October 3, 2012.

Note: Please note that the three openings listed for the glazier apprentices represent the total number for both regions - Capital & Hudson Valley.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a minimum of a 10th grade education.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
