Utica, NY (May 11, 2012) -
The Ironworkers Joint Apprenticeship Committee District II, Local Union #440-Utica, will conduct a recruitment from June 4, 2012 through May 31, 2013 for five ironworker (outside) apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Colleen C. Gardner announced today.
Applications will be available at Local Union #440, 801 Varick Street (2nd floor), Utica, NY from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Applications can also be obtained by calling the union hall at (315) 735-4531. All applications must be received no later than May 31, 2013.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
