Laborers Recruit Apprentices

Rochester, NY (January 06, 2012) -

The Rochester Laborers' Local No. 435 will conduct recruitment from March 1, 2012 through August 2, 2012 for ten (10) skilled construction craft laborer apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Colleen C. Gardner announced today.

Applications will be available at Local No. 435, 20-22 Fourth St., Rochester, NY from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, on the first Thursday of each month, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma - proof to be presented at time of selection or indenture.
  • Must be physically able to perform the work required as determined by applicant's verbal statement.
  • Must submit to and pass non-DOT drug test.
  • Must be able to consistently lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to legally work in U.S.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work sites and school.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
