The Bricklayers & Allied Craft workers, Local Union #1, will conduct a recruitment from September 28, 2012 through June 28, 2013 for three stonemason apprentices; 10 pointer, caulker & cleaner apprentices; 10 bricklayer & mason apprentices; and three plasterer apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today.
Applications will only be given on the last Friday of each month during the recruitment period, except in December when they will be given on the third Friday. Applications will be filled out at: International Masonry Institute Local Union #1 Training Facility, 12-07 44th Avenue, Long Island City, NY, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. during recruitment period, on the following dates: 9/28/2012, 10/26/2012, 11/30/2012, 12/21/2012, 01/25/2013, 02/22/2013, 03/29/2013, 04/26/2013, 05/31/2013 and 06/28/2013. There will be no mailed applications. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. There will be no admittance after 8:30 a.m. Processing will be held until 10:00 a.m.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
