The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, Local Union #41, will conduct a recruitment from October 5, 2011 through September 26, 2012 for four electrician (housewire or residential) apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Colleen C. Gardner announced today
Applications can be obtained at the Local Union #41, S-3546 California Road, Orchard Park, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays of each month, excluding November 23, 2011 and July 4, 2012, during the recruitment period. Applicants must apply in person.
Applicants must forward all documents, official transcripts, and evidence that they meet "Minimum Qualifications" as listed below, no more than 30 days from the date they obtain their application, by U.S. Mail to: Recruitment, Electrical Industry Education Fund, S-3546 California Road, Orchard Park, NY 14127. No applications or supporting documents will be accepted by any other means.
The Committee requires that applicants:
- Be at least 17 years old (must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of selection and indenture).
- Must complete an application form.
- Must show evidence of successful completion of: one full credit of high school algebra with a passing grade, or one post-high school algebra course (e.g. Adult Education, Continuing Education, Community College etc.) with a passing grade.
- Must be at least a high school graduate, or have a general equivalency diploma (GED), or, in lieu of a high school diploma or GED, have a two-year Associate Degree or higher. Must provide an official transcript for high school (year or years completed) and post-high school education and training. All GED records must be submitted if applicable.
- Must submit a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training/experience.
- Must obtain a qualifying score of "5" or higher,* using the electrical trade's aptitude test developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research.
- *OR have a minimum of twenty-four hundred (2,400) hours of substantiated electrical construction work experience.
- Must live within the local's geographic jurisdiction (proof required):
Erie County - All Townships - Entire County
Cattaraugus County - Townships of Ashford, East Otto, Ellicottville, Farmersville, Franklinville, Freedom, Lyndon, Machias, Mansfield, New Albion, Otto, Perrysburg, Persia, Yorkshire
Genesee County - Townships of Alabama, Alexander. Batavia*, Darien, Elba*, Oakfield and Pembroke - *that portion west of Little Tonawanda Creek; Tonawanda Creek, the City limits of Batavia (in effect prior to Feb. 1, 1970); and State Highway No. 98 north of the City of Batavia.
Wyoming County - Townships of Arcade, Attica, Bennington, Eagle, Java, Orangeville, Sheldon and Weathersfield.
- Must pass drug test - after accepted into the program.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status.
