Roofers Recruit Apprentices

Buffalo, NY (June 21, 2012) -

The Roofers Local Union #210 JATC will conduct a recruitment from July 2, 2012 through June 28, 2013 for nine (9) roofer apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Colleen C. Gardner announced today.

Applications can be obtained, and will be accepted, at the following New York State Department of Labor locations:

  • Chautauqua County: 23 E. 3rd Street, Jamestown, NY; 407 Central Ave, Dunkirk, NY
  • Cattaraugus County: 175 N. Union Street, Suite 4, Olean, NY
  • Allegany County: Allegany County Employment & Training Complex, 7 Wells Lane, Belmont, NY

Applications are also available, and will be accepted, at the following locations:

  • Jamestown Roofing Inc.: 119 Clifton Ave, Jamestown, NY
  • A.W. Farrell & Sons: 3761 E. Lake Road, Dunkirk. NY

Applications are available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday of each month, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Applications will also be available online at http://www.rooferslocal210.org/

.The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Transcripts are required at the time of indenture.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work sites and related instruction facilities.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license to operate company vehicle on public roads.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
