      Statewide Labor Market Overview

      Since April 2011, the number of nonfarm jobs (private plus public sectors) in New York State increased by 114,700, or 1.3 percent, and the number of private sector jobs increased by 115,700, or 1.6 percent. Additional industry detail is presented in the table below.

      New York State's unemployment rate (not seasonally adjusted) was 8.1 percent in April 2012, down from 8.7 percent in April 2011.
