Licensed Practical Nurse
Description
A licensed practical nurse provides practical nursing care to patients under the direction of a registered professional nurse, licensed physician, dentist, or other licensed healthcare provider. A licensed practical nurse provides assistance to professional nursing and medical staff in such settings as a hospital, nursing home, physician's office, community health-care center, and rehabilitation facility.
Licensing Requirements
An applicant must file an application for licensure/registration with the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions, to practice in New York State as a licensed practical nurse.
