Occupational Therapy Assistant


Occupational therapy assistants provide treatment according to a plan developed by or in collaboration with a licensed occupational therapist. They must work under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist or a licensed physician.

Licensing Requirements:

An applicant must file an application for licensure/registration with the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions, to practice as an occupational therapy assistant in New York State. Applicant must be of good moral character.

Age Requirements:

Applicant must be 21 years of age.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Applicants must meet education requirements specified by the New York State Education Department.

Examination Requirements:

Applicants must meet examination requirements specified by the New York State Education Department.

Fees: (as of August 16, 2013)

The fee for authorization for occupational therapy assistant is $147.
The fee for a limited permit for occupational therapy assistant is $70.
