Physical Therapist Assistant
Description:
A physical therapist assistant is a licensed health care professional who provides treatment according to a plan developed by and under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
Licensing Requirements:
An applicant must file an application for licensure/registration with the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions, to practice as a physical therapist assistant in New York State. The latest information and requirements for licensure are available on the New York State Education Department's website at www.op.nysed.gov/home.html.
Applicant must be of good moral character.
Age Requirements:
Applicant must be 18 years of age.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Applicants must meet education requirements specified by the New York State Education Department.
Examination Requirements:
Applicants must meet examination requirements specified by the New York State Education Department.
Fees:
The fee for certification as a physical therapist assistant is $95.
The fee for a limited permit for a physical therapist assistant is $50.
Please Note: Effective February 9, 2003, limited permits may be issued to physical therapist assistants.
