Description:
A public school administrator provides administrative and supervisory leadership to public schools and school districts in relation to public school curriculum design, development and implementation to facilitate the achievement of specific instructional program objectives.
Licensing Requirements:
Applicants for certification as a public school administrator for New York State public schools and school districts must complete an Approved Program leading to certification as a School Building Leader, a School District Leader, or a School District Business Leader at a New York State college or university; or hold a valid comparable certificate from another state or jurisdiction; and file an application with the New York State Education Department, Office of Teaching Initiatives. Applications are submitted online through the Office of Teaching Initiatives' TEACH Online Services system at: http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/.
In New York State, public school administrators must be a U.S. citizen or hold U.S. permanent residency to receive Professional certification.
