A specialist assistant provides medical care under the supervision of a physician in one of the four following specialty areas: orthopedics, acupuncture, radiology, or urology.

Licensing Requirements:

An applicant must file an application for licensure/registration with the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions, to practice as a specialist assistant in New York State. Applicant must be of good moral character.

Age Requirements:

Applicant must be 21 years of age.

Education and Examination Requirements:

Applicants must meet education and examination requirements specified by the New York State Education Department.
