2009 Wage Board

A 2009 Wage Board has been appointed by Commissioner of Labor M. Patricia Smith. Purpose: to review and recommend changes in the regulations governing the wages and tips paid to workers in the hotel and restaurant industries

Wage Board Meeting – Tuesday, March 31 from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon in New York City

The first meeting of the Wage Board was held on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the NYS Department of Labor, 75 Varick St., 7th floor, New York, NY 10013. It was devoted to hearing the Commissioner’s Charge to the Wage Board (open in a new window) and setting up a calendar of public meetings and hearings. View and listen to video.

Wage Board Meeting – Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Albany

The second meeting of the Wage Board was held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 11:00 AM, at the NYS Department of Labor, Building 12, Harriman State Office Campus, Albany, NY 12240, in Training Rooms A & B on the first floor. The meeting was open to members of the public; however, no public comment was taken. View and listen to video.

Public Hearing – Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM in Buffalo

The May 6 Public Hearing was held at the Mahoney State Office Building, Part 6, 65 Court Street, Buffalo, NY 14202. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public comment on the regulations pertaining to wages and tips paid to workers in the restaurant and hotel industries.

Public Hearing – Friday, May 15, 2009 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM in Albany

The May 15 Public Hearing was held at the NYS Department of Labor, Building 12, Harriman State Office Campus, Albany, NY 12240, in Training Rooms D & E on the first floor. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public comment on the regulations pertaining to wages and tips paid to workers in the restaurant and hotel industries.

Public Hearing – Wednesday, May 20, 2009 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in New York City

The May 20 Public Hearing was held in the Center for Worker Education, 18th floor, classrooms 18B – 18C, at the Joseph S Murphy Institute, City University of New York (CUNY), 25 West 43 St., New York, NY 10036. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public comment on the regulations pertaining to wages and tips paid to workers in the restaurant and hotel industries.

Wage Board Meeting – Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Albany

The third meeting of the Wage Board will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009, 11:00 AM, at the NYS Department of Labor, Building 12, Harriman State Office Campus, Albany, NY 12240, in Room 544. The meeting is open to members of the public; however, no public comment will be taken at the meeting.

Public comment may be submitted in writing through June 3, 2009.

Wage Board Meeting – Monday, June 22, 2009 at 9:00 AM in both Albany and New York City

The fourth meeting of the Wage Board will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009, commencing at 9:00 AM, at two locations simultaneously: at the NYS Department of Labor, Building 12, Harriman State Office Campus, Albany, NY 12240, in Room 544, and at the NYS Department of Labor offices, 75 Varick Street, 7th floor, New York, NY 10013, in the Commissioner’s Conference Room. The meeting is open to members of the public; however, no public comment will be taken.

Wage Board Meeting – Thursday, July 16 at 9:00 AM in both Albany and New York City

The fifth meeting of the Wage Board will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009, commencing at 9:00 AM, at two locations simultaneously: at the NYS Department of Labor, Building 12, Harriman State Office Campus, Albany, NY 12240, in Room 572A, and at the NYS Department of Labor offices, 75 Varick Street, 7th floor, New York, NY 10013, in the Commissioner’s Conference Room. The meeting is open to members of the public; however, no public comment will be taken.

Wage Board Meeting – Friday, September 18 at 9:00 AM in both Albany and New York City

The sixth meeting of the Wage Board will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009, at 9:00 AM, in two locations simultaneously: at the NYS Department of Labor, Building 12, Harriman State Office Campus, Albany, NY 12240; and at the NYS Department of Labor offices, 7th floor, Commissioner’s Conference Room, 75 Varick Street, New York, NY 10013. The purpose of the meeting is to hold a vote of the members on a proposed Report and Recommendations of the Wage Board to the Commissioner of Labor. The meeting is open to members of the public at both locations; however, no public comment will be taken.
