The Division of Safety and Health (DOSH) is one of three Divisions within the Worker Protection Bureau, where protecting New York ’s workforce is the number one priority. Ten separate Programs and a Licensing and Certification Unit comprise the DOSH umbrella of protection, providing safety and health information and assistance to employers and employees. The Department is in the process of finalizing new regulations dealing with the certification of individuals as blasters, pyrotechnicians, crane and laser operators. The new regulations are referred to as Code Rule 61. These new regulations will replace the current certification requirements found in Code Rules 39, 23 and 50 and the current “Emergency version” of Code Rule 61.
