The New York State Workforce Investment Board's Emerging Worker Sub-Committee has made a commitment to ensure that all New York's youth are better prepared for employment by exposing them to a greater array of potential career opportunities, including current demand occupations.
The Emerging Worker Sub-Committee is co-chaired by Richard P. Mills, Commissioner, New York State Education Department, and Gerard Pierce, Director of Human Resources, Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. More information on the Sub-Committee can be found at www.workforcenewyork.org.
The staff of the Emerging Worker Sub-Committee is conducting a survey of Local Youth Councils to help identify state level issues and opportunities, gauge statewide implementation of WIA- funded youth programming, assess technical assistance needs, and identify promising and effective practices. Your response to the survey is vitally important to shaping state support for Youth Councils and the services they provide. Your responses will help frame the agenda for the first Statewide dialogue with Youth Council and Local Workforce Investment Board Chairs on July 11, 2001. Information will be provided in the next several weeks. The most effective strategies for Youth Councils of the future depend on your participation.
The survey will be sent to all Youth Council Chairs on June 8, 2001. We request completion of the survey by June 22nd. Phone contact will be made to those Youth Councils that have not completed the survey by June 22nd. All questions pertaining to the survey can be directed to Ryan J. Cool at the New York State Education Department at (518) 473-5205. Completed surveys (and attachments) should be sent to the following e-mail address: email@example.com, or you may fax the completed survey to (518) 474-2801.
