Purpose: |
To transmit “An Orientation & Mobility Primer, A Self Evaluation For Workforce Development One Stop Providers Serving Customers who are Blind or Visually Impaired” developed by Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services |

Background: |
One-Stop delivery systems are obligated to comply with section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended, and various titles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), 42 U.S.C. 12101 et seq. regarding the accessibility of programs and facilities. |
|
Action: |
One-Stop operators should read the attached primer and disseminate, so that staff become familiar with orientation, mobility services and etiquette protocol for serving blind or visually impaired customers in the One-Stop System. |
